Waterford Town Hall main corridorMore than twenty-five juried art show winners exhibit their patriotic and local scenery artwork in the main corridor of Waterford Town Hall. Artwork may be purchased, but must remain in Town Hall until the end of the show. Through September, veterans’ artwork is on display. In the final months of 2026, Waterford’s students will display their artwork.

| 10 a.m. | The Lafayette Trail Commemoration at Jordan Green Co-sponsored with the Town of Waterford, Recreation & Parks and The Lafayette Trail., Inc. General Lafayette stopped in Waterford in the very first weeks of his triumphant 1824-1825 tour, where he was met on August 22, 1824, by a committee sent from New London to escort him to the mansion of Judge Perkins. A 45-minute dedication ceremony and unveiling of the 15th Lafayette Trail marker in Connecticut, donated to the Town of Waterford by The Lafayette Trail, Inc., with funding from the William G. Pomeroy Foundation. |

Descendants of our town’s farming families, including Ray Dimmock and Daneen Roth, will participate in a discussion. The Dimmock family for decades had the right to harvest seaweed at Hammond beach, which is now Waterford Beach Park. |

October 5, 2026 | 6:30 p.m. Social 7 p.m. Program | “We, the Family Gardeners…” At the Waterford Public Library When people once kept “kitchen gardens” near their houses, women could tend and harvest fruits, herbs, and vegetables regularly, as well as preserve fruits and vegetables for the winter months by drying (dehydrating), placing prepared food in Ball jars, and/or placing food in ice cellars. Sheila Elliott, Phyllis Cushing, and other members of the Thames River Garden Club will present this program.
